Guitar Hero: Metallica Ad Has Exactly Four Too Many Pantsless Men [Clips]
Activision’s marketing team must be suffering from a bout of delusion, as the new Guitar Hero: Metallica television spot is lacking in Heidi Klum pantslessness in favor of Bobby Knight pantslessness.
Four NCAA coaches match wits with four Metallica band members—thankfully modest in black denim—complete with Bobby Knight launching a trademark tirade and a Guitar Hero World Tour drum kit at the band. On the receiving end of biting remarks from Metallica’s James Hetfield are Knight, Roy Williams, Rick Pitino and Mike “Coach K” Krzyzewski, who are just trying to enjoy some of “the Guitar Hero.”
With that much star power, it’s the Matt Pinfield voice over that, personally, really sells it. Thanks for the heads up, Eddie.

Guitar Hero 3 Guitar Controller Release Date and Price Rumor?
Rumors surfaced from a few small sources that standalone Guitar Hero 3 Guitar Controllers could be released around March 2008. But now, other prominant sites have struck down the rumor as a meer myth and the pages with the controllers listed have vanished so whats really going on?
The rumor claims that the new standalone Guitar Hero 3 Controllers were listed in the Red Octane online store for a short period of time and that the Xbox 360 and PS3 guitar controllers will be $69 USD while the Wii’s will be $59.
This rumor is believable because Red Octane are the offical makers of guitar hero controllers, so if they did accidently post a date it was probably the right one or close.
Also, Red Octane frequently puts up items that are set to be released months in the future. For example they just did this with their upcoming “Guitar Hero 3 Bundles with two Guitar Controllers for Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii” which just started being listed a few days ago on their site and guess what, the release date is set to March 2008.
So it’s very possible they made a mistake when entering items into their database which made the controllers temporarily viewable to the public; but when I e-mailed a Red Octane representative asking about a release date for the stand alone guitar controllers they replied with this:
“From the info given so far, we still do not have a solid release date for the stand alone controllers.” – RedOctane
So, the official word is that there is no solid release date yet for stand alone Guitar Hero 3 controllers, but based on what we’ve learned, some time during March 2008 is probably a good guess as to when they will be released.
Its taken standalone Guitar Hero 3 controllers so long to come out at this point that I’m sure you’re foaming at the mouth by now; and when they finally are released they’ll probably be as hard to find as the game was. With this in mind, you’ll be able to easily find them in stock at our Guitar Hero Shop, so if you plan on getting an extra Guitar when they’re released just bookmark one of the links below.

Aerosmith Exclusively on Guitar Hero
Its no suprise with so many rhythm games coming out now-a-days that companies would start trying to get exclusive deals with bands so they could be the only ones cash in on their popularity.
The first sign of this is coming for Activision upcoming game Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, it was recently found out that Aerosmith is exclusive to the Guitar Hero Series for an undisclosed length of time.
Tim Riley, Activisions Vice president of music affairs has stated “I can say that we do have the band exclusively, and their catalogue should be exclusive to us beyond the one or two tracks they had licensed out to Rock Band before we made our deal.”
So don’t expect to hear or see Aerosmtih songs in any other band or music related games for the forseeable future.
I think its interesting that companies are doing this, in a way you have to. It wouldn’t be that hard for another company to copy them or for Harmonix to include all the Aerosmith songs in a download pack or in an upcoming game of theirs.
Now I’m wondering what other kinds of exclusive deals with bands exist or may pop up soon.

PSA: Guitar Hero: Metallica melting faces, store shelves today
We thought we’d pass along a courteous reminder from Activision informing the gaming community that Guitar Hero: Metallica began rocking store shelves today. If you haven’t found current full-band simulators to be punishing enough, Metallica promises to deliver with an “Expert +” mode, double kick pedals, and guitar solos capable of turning even the sturdiest fingers into tiny puddles of red goo. If you’ve got $59.99 lying around (or $49.99 for the Wii version, $39.99 for the PS2), you can simulate “riding the lightning”* with unparalleled accuracy.
*Warning: Riding lightning can lead to unintended health consequences in the groin region, including serious unsightly burns and impotence. Consult your doctor before deciding to mount any arcs of electricity.

Guitar Hero DLC: Pixies, Motörhead, Nirvana [Guitar Hero]
There’s so much Rock Band DLC on offer every week that it’s easy to forget that, occasionally, Guitar Hero World Tour gets some as well. Here’s what it’s getting for the month of April.
On April 2, there’ll be three Pixies songs made available: Debaser, Monkey Gone To Heaven & The Sad Punk. April 9 sees the release of three tracks by the Silversun Pickups, those being Panic Switch, It’s Nice to Know You Work Alone & Well Thought Out Twinkles.
On April 16, Steely Dan’s Black Friday, Kid Charlemagne and Bodhisattva will be released, while on April 23, you can get Jailbait, Love Me Like a Reptile and Iron Fist by Motörhead.
Rounding out the month will be a Nirvana track pack on April 30, including Very Ape, Sappy & Stay Away.
Possible Guitar Hero: Mötley Crüe In the Future

Mötley Crüe… I haven’t listened to their music enough to give an opinion on whether that they should have a game or not, but I can say that I can think of a million other bands that I’m sure I would rather see than Mötley Crüe…
The beans were spilled in some random article about Mötley Crüe.
It’s buried near the end of an article about the Crüe, some American Idol contestant and the band’s God-awful support lineup for their upcoming tour:
Aside from gearing up for the tour, the band is also working on side projects, a new album and a possible Mötley Crüe-inspired edition of “Guitar Hero.”
It will be entertaining though simply becuase it’s a Guitar Hero Game with new music on it.
