Author: i wanted to get the rock band game (because it has better music) but we already have the guitar hero world tour set. So i was wondering if you could play the guitar hero instruments with the rock band games/songs.

There may be a problem if you have the Wii versions, apparently Rock Band 2 works with the guitars and the drums, but not Rock Band 1. For the PS3 version you may have to do an update patch to get the guitars to work there may be some issues with the drums and Rock Band 1 and under the Xbox they all work fine.
The other thing you may notice is the World Tour Drum set has five pads and a pedal while the Rock Band drums only have four pads and a pedal. When playing Rock Band the additional drum pad will not be active, but the drums will still work fine.
If you really want to play the Rock Band 1 songs, simply buy both and then you can pay about $8 to do a transfer of the RB1 songs over to RB2. This works if you have an online account for the Playstation or the Xbox, but not the Wii.
