Does the Rock Band 2 guitar controller for the PS3 work with the PS2 guitar hero games?

Author: Assuming I play them on the PS3, that is. Basically, I need to know if I can use the PS3 wireless Rock Band 2 Guitar on the PS3 to play Guitar Hero 2 for the PS2, since the PS3 is backwards compatible.
