Guitar Hero World Tour

I have the new guitar hero and i am confused when to use the touch bar. There are some songs on expert where the notes are going way to fast to strum and they are not hammer ons. What do i do for those? Do i use the touch bar? And how do i use it and when do i know that i have to use it?
Also sometimes there are long notes and you have to strum a note while holding onto the long note. How do i do that? Do i use the touch bar?
