Will I be able to play Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band with the same Instruments?

Author: Im stuck between Rockband and Guitar Hero. If I buy the complete set of GH will i be able to play rockband with the same drums? I already know the guitar and mic will work.

New instrument controllers are not required to play World Tour. Older Guitar Hero guitar controllers will still work with the game.[7] Activision stated during their press conference held alongside E3 2008 that for Xbox 360 users, the existing Rock Band instrument controllers as well as other third party controllers will also work in Guitar Hero World Tour;[29] Rock Band instruments for the PlayStation 3 are not guaranteed to work in World Tour, though Sony is attempting to help make these units compatible.[30]
Console makers have helped to make sure that instrument compatibility between upcoming games is present. Both Sony[30] and Microsoft[31] have announced that instruments for World Tour, Rock Band 2, and Konami’s upcoming Rock Revolution will work between all three games on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Controller compatibility between World Tour and Rock Band 2 for the Wii is not yet known.
World Tour will adjust the tracks in the game to account for the instrument controller being used. For example, sections of the lead guitar track that are designed to be played on the new controller’s touchpad can be played by tapping the frets on older controllers without strumming.[7] When using Rock Band’s drum controller, which has one less percussion pad than the World Tour unit ("Rock Band" has four drum pads, "World Tour" has three drum pads and two cymbal pads), two of the lanes on the "World Tour" drum board will merge, reducing the note track to four drum pads and bass pedal.[27]
