Will the guitar hero 3 controller for ps2 also work for ps3?

Author: I am deciding whether i want to purchase guitar hero 3 for ps2 or ps3, because i only have a ps3, but I am trying to save money. I guess the question i want answered is: If I bought guitar hero 3 and the guitar controller for a PS2, would both work for a 40GB PS3.

A PS2 guitar won't work on the PS3.
You can; however, buy one of these http://www.amazon.com/Universal-PS2-Controller-Adaptor-Playstation-3/dp/B00162IF76/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1228072699&sr=8-1 if you really want to use a PS2 guitar.
